One of the most common gripes heard from Irish politicians is their despair at the cynicism of the average voter.

It’s an understandable complaint. At times.

While it might not be fashionable to admit such a thing, many, if not most, of our TDs get into that strange business out of a sense of public service and even the ones who aren’t very good tend to try their best.
